Butterfly populations are a very good indicator of the health of an area's ecosystem !!
Also known as the Princess Gifu butterfly or the Leuhdorfia Puzilio.
Leuhdorfia puzilio are found in Manchuria, the Russian Far East (Ussuri), North Korea, South Korea, Japan and the Kuriles.
They are considered an enigmatic species.
Adult butterflies appear once a year, feed on plants in the genus Asarum sieboldi (Wild Ginger) family, Aristolochiaceae (Birthwort Family), and overwinter as chrysalises.
There are reported to be 8 subspecies of Leuhdorfia Puziloi.
* Indiscriminate collecting at the hands of collectors continues unabated, which risks bringing the species to the point of extinction in the near future if this collecting continues.
