Butterfly populations are a very good indicator of the health of an area's ecosystem !!
Also known as the Mamba Swallowtail
Graphium colonna has continuous broods during the warmer months of October - April.
The markings of the dorsal surface are green, with only two transverse streaks of the hindwing in red.
Their ground color is darker than in related species, being almost pure black, and distinguished from all related species by having the discal spot in the forewing which is very narrow, streak like, and forming a direct continuation of the second transverse bar of the middle cell, and further by having the discal spot of the forewing also narrow and placed almost exactly at the middle of vein 2. The hindwing is entirely without green discal spots.
Diet: caterpillars feed on Artabotrys, Uvaria, and Annona species.
Wingspan: 5.5 – 6 cm / 2.16 – 2.36 “ males and 6 – 6. 5 cm / 2.36 – 2.55 “
